WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Last week, Luzerne County made the decision to drop ballot drop boxes, due to safety and security concerns, but some voters don't agree with the move.
While some argue ballot drop boxes should be brought back, others say they have no place in Luzerne County.
On Tuesday, local voting rights group members from In This Together NEPA, lawmakers, and voters gathered together outside of the County Courthouse in Wilkes-Barre for a news conference on ballot drop boxes being removed from the county.

The first electric school buses have arrived in Lackawanna County. From the outside, they may look like just your typical yellow school bus.
"The electric buses that are behind us are more than just a mode of transportation, they represent a step forward for a greener Scranton," said Superintendent Dr. Erin Keating.

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — State officials are reminding Pennsylvania voters the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming November Election is fast approaching.
The Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt states October 21 is the last day voters will be able to register for the upcoming election on November 5.
"Every eligible Pennsylvanian who is not yet registered to vote still has the chance to do so before the October 21 deadline," Schmidt said.

WILKES-BARRE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they are searching for three people for allegedly committing retail theft at Target.
According to the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department, on September 23 around 6:00 p.m. two women and a man entered Target and filled a shopping cart with merchandise.
Two wanted for alleged Target retail theft
Police say the group left the store without paying. The total amount of the stolen items is $385.40.
The suspects fled the area in a car pictured below.

TUNKHANNOCK, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — On Monday, residents took some time to celebrate local first responders with a sub and a sweet treat.
At Tunkhannock Community Ambulance in Wyoming County, locals can enjoy a firehouse sub, hoagies, coffee, and ice cream to help raise funds for local fire departments and EMS crews.
From now until Saturday, a portion of everything sold will be donated to local fire departments and EMS crews to help with everyday expenses. They're also holding a raffle.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Several new security measures have been announced to make sure things stay safe and fair on Election Day.
The changes are in Luzerne County which will be one of the most watched polling spots in the nation.
On Monday, Luzerne County Manager Romilda Crocamo announced some new enhanced security measures that will be in place on November 5.
"I want people to know that we will have safe polling places," Crocamo stated.

According to the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department, on September 12 two women entered Target and selected multiple items, including clothing, a luggage accessory, and two pink luggage suitcases.

Police say the two women were seen leaving the store without paying for any of the items causing Target a total loss of $480.94.
