Candle lighting ceremony held for victims of Carlisle St.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Candles and balloons filled Wilkes-Barre Friday evening, held by those who honored the lives of the two women who were cut short.

Many came to pay tribute to both Fox and Cuevas, regardless of their relationship to them.

It was certainly an emotional night in Wilkes-Barre as people filled Public Square to remember the two women.

Community and family members alike stood together to say goodbye to Fox and Cuevas.

Former Kingston Borough manager charged in Cumberland County

CUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A former Kingston Borough manager was charged Wednesday in Cumberland County.

Fred Potzer was charged with Tampering with Public Records, Access Device Fraud, and the Misapplication of Entrusted Property & Property of Government or Financial Institutions among other charges according to court records

Two men charged in murder-for-hire plot in Luzerne County

PLYMOUTH, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Two men have been charged in a murder-for-hire plot in Luzerne County.

Plymouth Police Department say Gregory Duclaire, 39, from Wilkes Barre, and Gregory Warren, 38, extradited from the Bronx, New York City have been arraigned on one count of criminal conspiracy and two counts of criminal homicide.

NEPA awarded $42.5M for high-speed internet access to grant moneuy

The unionized workers are less than a month away from voting to strike.

28/22 News Reporter Emily Allegrucci was at a meeting they held Thursday evening.

Geisinger Wyoming Valley's Unionized Technical Employees met Thursday evening to discuss what changes need to be made at the hospital.

Overall, they're looking for more help, better pay, and to avoid an impending strike.

Luzerne County Assistant District Attorney retires after 20 years

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — After two decades of putting criminals behind bars, a well-known, local prosecutor is leaving the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office.

The retirement comes after a career of convictions, one that includes one of Luzerne County's most notorious cases.

After 20 years of more than 100 homicides, sexual assaults, active shootings, and drug cases, premier homicide prosecutor Jarrett Ferentino recently retired as the Assistant District Attorney of Luzerne County.

Rust-colored water flowing into creek in Edwardsville

EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Downstream from Toby Creek, rust-colored water is flowing in a creek in Edwardsville behind Market 32 grocery store.

"Even normal rain it's a different color," said Edwardsville resident Matthew Scott-Amos.

About three miles downstream from Sunday's mine subsidence in Toby Creek in Luzerne, rust-colored water can now be seen in Edwardsville on that same creek.

"I've never seen the orange color before, first time we've seen it and I know this is part of Toby Creek," said Thomas Jenkins of Edwardsville.

The mine void opened up on Sunday, draining water from the creek, and is causing concern for nearby homeowners and businesses.

New storage, maintenance facility opens in Hazle Township

HAZLE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The new Hazleton Public Transit Bus Storage and Maintenance Facility is officially open.

It's located across from the Hazleton airport in Hazel Township, Luzerne County.

The $27,000,000 million project is the largest project in the city of Hazleton's history.
