Residents rally in Wyoming County for Medicare, Medicaid

TUNKHANNOCK, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — On Monday, Action Together NEPA hosted a rally with dozens showing up to participate.

The budget resolution that narrowly passed in the House of Representatives in February calls for the Energy and Commerce Committee to cut $880,000,000,000 in spending over 10 years.

Many are afraid those cuts will hit programs like Medicaid and they want local congress members to know they are worried.

Student going to D.C. for National Youth Leadership Forum

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local 14-year-old ninth grader is about to take her education from northeastern Pennsylvania to our nation's capital.

She will join other teens from across the country for a rare opportunity to learn about national security.

West Scranton High School freshman Cailyn Manley is just months away from embarking on quite an educational experience.

She has been chosen to participate in the national youth leadership forum on national security in Washington, D.C.

Scranton police search for missing woman

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Scranton Police Department on Monday said they are searching for a missing woman.

Authorities are searching for 29-year-old Melissa Walsh-Scott who is described as weighing about 200 pounds and standing at about five feet and four inches tall.

Bresnahan, Meuser respond to claims of federal benefit cuts

The family told police they last knew Walsh-Scott to have been in the vicinity of Nay Aug Park on Friday, March 21, at about 2:00 a.m.
