First day of spring means free Italian ice!

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— It is the first day of spring and that means some special deals for some frozen treats to kick off the season.

"Rita's Italian ice" is handing out a free six-ounce cup of Italian ice, no purchase necessary!

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— St. Patrick's Day was Monday, but we have one more parade to look forward to this weekend.

Sunday will be the 46th St. Patrick's Parade in the Poconos.

There will be 135 floats this year, bigger than previous years.

The parade starts at Stroudsburg High School at 1:15 p.m. and goes over the interborough bridge and ends at East Stroudsburg Municipal Building.

What will funding look like without the DOE

(WBRE/WYOU)— President Trump signed the executive order around 4:30 p.m. Thursday shutting down the Department of Education (DOE).

Many are now wondering what that means for schools right here in NEPA, as well as across the country.

To fully eliminate the department requires an act of Congress, and while the White House says funding for essential programs for schools across the country will remain, local educators and analysts have concerns about how exactly schools will get the funding.
