Attorney Joseph Quinn granted lifetime achievement award

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A big honor is heading to a familiar face in Luzerne County's legal world.

Attorney Joseph Quinn of the Kingston law firm Hourigan, Kluger and Quinn will receive the "Pennsylvania Association for Justice Lifetime Achievement Award" Thursday night.

NESCOPECK TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Bonding over the blues, thousands of people are expected to make their way to a local farm in Luzerne County for an annual music festival.

28/22 News stopped by the grounds of the three-day event ahead of Thursday night’s kick off.

“We are getting our spot honestly cause you have to get here early enough because it’s first come, first served to get into the campsites,” explained Ben Pypiak of Berwick.

Body of Pa. kayaker recovered from Delaware Water Gap

BUSHKILL, PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The body of a kayaker has been recovered after capsizing along the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

On Wednesday, park rangers from Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and rescue teams from Bushkill Fire responded to a call involving a capsized kayaker. Rescuers were on scene within 33 minutes.

LEWISBURG — The Upper Susquehanna Synod (USS) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in Lewisburg will receive $20,000 to cultivate deeper communities of faith in their rural contexts.The grant is through the Wartburg Theological Seminary’s The Country and Small Town Lived Ecclesiology (CaSTLE) Project, a five-year initiative to support renewal in small-town and rural congregations.The synod’s project, The Priesthood of All of USS, will further equip lay worship leaders to inspire people to live into mission beyond weekly worship time.
