5 charged after drug raid in Nanticoke

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A weekend drug bust has landed five people in jail in Luzerne County.

On Main Street just near the center of Nanticoke, an apartment in this house behind me was the center of an investigation by multiple different police agencies lasting several weeks.

"They're up and down the sidewalk selling drugs," said Nanticoke resident Pauline Michaels.

One dead in Monroe County fatal crash

COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — One man is dead after a fatal motor vehicle crash occurred in Monroe County on Sunday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) on Sunday around 2:30 a.m. 22-year-old, Steven McKenna, was driving South on Interstate 380 (I-380) at mile marker 5.1 when for an unknown reason, McKenna abruptly veered to the right, leaving the roadway and striking an embankment.

Red Cross helps fire victims displaced in Wilkes-Barre fire

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Red Cross is helping the 12 victims of Monday morning's house fire in Wilkes-Barre.

The fire broke out at a double home on Regent Street around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

Flames were shooting through the roof when crews got there. Firefighters had it out quickly.

Everyone escaped but two families, including eight children, need new places to stay.

Crews from Wilkes-Barre and several neighboring communities were called in to fight it.
