(WBRE/WYOU) — The National Weather Service (NWS) announced on Sunday that several counties are under flash flood warnings.
The NWS issued a flood warning for the following counties until 10:30 p.m. Sunday night:
Lackawanna County
Susquehanna County
Wayne County
According to the NWS, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the affected areas, with 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain already fallen.
The NWS warns residents to take proper precautions when encountering an area experiencing flash flooding by turning around and to not drown.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Veterans of today are getting a helping hand thanks to an outreach effort. Valor Clinic Foundation hosted an event on Sunday called Wilkes-Barre Stand Down behind the McDonald's at Market Street and Wilkes-Barre Boulevard.
Organizers say the goal was to provide food, resources, and services for veterans in need, at-risk individuals, and families.

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The clock is ticking to register for the upcoming primary election in Pennsylvania.
Monday is the final day to become eligible to vote if you have not already registered.
This month's election is a closed primary, so only Republicans and Democrats can cast votes for their respective parties.

Parker Street between North Main Avenue and Boulevard Avenue will be closed.
Crews searching in Susquehanna river for missing 10 year old
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) crews plan to finish paving.
The work is part of the Parker Street Bridge reconstruction project.
A detour will be set up for drivers for the work, which PennDOT says will take about two weeks.

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) project is expected to cause traffic delays for the Monday morning commute.
PennDOT says the project is scheduled on Interstate 81 southbound between mile marker 175 near Pittston to mile marker 170 near Wilkes-Barre.
One lane will be closed during the work.
West Hazleton woman dead after crash
The project is scheduled to last from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Luzerne County.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A desperate search was underway on Sunday for a missing girl who was swept away in the Susquehanna River. Crews were on the water all afternoon in the Williamsport area trying to find the 10-year-old.
28/22 News Reporter Avery Nape was on scene during the search.
The 10-year-old girl was in the Susquehanna River late Sunday morning while her mother and another were on the riverbank nearby. That's when their worst fears became reality when the girl disappeared, and the other two tried to save her.
