Doctors warn of heat stroke and exhaustion dangers

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Emergency room doctors say this extreme heat can be deadly. The elderly and the very young are especially vulnerable to heat-related sicknesses such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion.

28/22 News spoke to an emergency room doctor who says this weather can be a killer.

Temperatures have been hovering around the mid-90s for much of our area, and for some, even higher.

The bottom line for everyone: Take these temps seriously.

Naked child found alone leads to parents' arrest

PLYMOUTH, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Parents are facing charges after police say they found a home "unfit for human habitation" after a child was left alone, walking around naked.

According to the Plymouth Borough Police Department, on Saturday, June 21, officers were called to the area of Barnes Street Park for a naked child walking around all alone.

Police say they arrived at the scene where the child was found naked and covered in dried human feces. Officers said the child led them to his home in the 200 block of Orchard Street.

Over $700K lottery ticket sold in Pa.

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A winning Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 ticket worth over $700,000 was sold at GIANT Food Stores. 

A Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 with Quick Cash ticket sold for the Friday, June 20, drawing matched all five balls drawn, 6-13-17-26-33, to win $792,972.

Truck carrying asphalt catches fire after rollover

The ticket was sold at GIANT Food Stores in Williamsport, which will earn a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
