Answers sought three years after fire that killed 10 people

NESCOPECK, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Three years ago this month, a devastating fire killed 10 people in Nescopeck, Luzerne County.

Seven adults and three children, ages five, six, and seven, perished in the inferno at a home on First Street.

Three years later, the family of the victims and the community are still looking for answers as to the cause of the fire.

State Police say it's an ongoing investigation.

Police standoff ends peacefully

DALLAS TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A police standoff that closed roadways ended peacefully Thursday.

Dallas Township Police stated they were dispatched to a residence on Lake Street for a reported domestic incident.

Reward offered for 5-year-old unsolved homicide

Investigators say a female suspect allegedly assaulted a man on Wednesday night. The man contacted police once he was able to leave the residence and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

HANOVER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who can help solve a 5-year-old homicide investigation.

On August 09, 2020, calls concerning a shooting on Boland Avenue in Hanover Township were coming in. Police stated two men, Fernando Vasquez Vittini and Jose Carolos Matos, were shot while seated in a vehicle in front of a home on Boland Avenue.
