Annual Easter market brings together local businesses

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A hunt of a different kind brought out more than 50 vendors and many more customers in Scranton's Green Ridge section.

Hundreds of people turned out to Lace Village for a spring shopping market.

It featured everything from clothing and crafts to jewelry and food.

Bringing some bloom to downtown Scranton

The market also included a petting zoo featuring sheep and goats.

This family-friendly event is one of several throughout the year held at Lace Village.

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Elsewhere, children filled up their baskets for another Easter egg hunt.

It's billed as the Bunny Hunt at Saint Anthony's playground in Dunmore.

Organizers say it took a matter of minutes for kids to grab all of the three-thousand eggs filled with candy and prizes.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Some mild temperatures combined with an Easter tradition brought out a big crowd to downtown Wilkes-Barre.

City firefighters gave the Easter bunny a lift for the downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association's annual Easter egg hunt.

Hundreds of kids and their parents filled the square as children went in search of thousands of candy-filled, colorful plastic eggs.

One man dead after police pursuit

NORTH MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Schuylkill County man is dead after a police pursuit Saturday afternoon.

Troopers say 43-year-old Matthew Williams, of Frackville, fled a traffic stop in his 2017 Kia Rio and traveled south on State Route 61 just before 3:00 p.m.

Firefighters battling 260-acre forest fire

The release states that Williams traveled along State Route 61 for approximately a quarter mile before he neared the intersection of the Cressona mall where he rear-ended a black SUV causing a multi-vehicle crash.
