Firefighters battle Mount Carmel blaze

MOUNT CARMEL, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Firefighters were on the scene of a row home fire in Mount Carmel.

Officials say the fire broke out around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night along the 100 block of South Chestnut Street.

Structure fire sends one firefighter to hospital in Lackawanna County

Crews using a ladder truck took to the roof to fight the fire as flames shot from the top of the building.

So far there is no indication if anyone is hurt or what caused the fire.

Fence credited for preventing suspects from releasing most mink in Rockefeller Township

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Fur Commission USA is crediting a perimeter fence for preventing suspects from releasing most of the mink there.

A security camera caught two people trespassing on the Richard H. Stahl Son's Mink Farm near Sunbury very early Saturday morning.

About 200 mink were released this time.

UPDATE Two jailed after second mink release as investigation continues

SUNBURY — Vandals struck a Sunbury mink farm for the second time in a little more than a year late Friday, releasing 500 to 900 mink. Unlike the previous incident, two people have been charged, according to Northumberland County District Attorney Mike O’Donnell.

ROCKEFELLER TWP., NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials state hundreds of Mink were released from a Mink Farm in Northumberland County.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police on October 19 around 12:53 a.m. PSP Stonington responded to the Mink Farm on State Route 89 for a report of two individuals caught on camera releasing mink, which resulted in 200 released mink.

A press release was sent out by the Fur Commission USA stating that 700 mink were released and most of the mink are now being recovered.

Man found guilty of 1st degree murder and other charges

SHAMOKIN, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was found guilty of first-degree murder and other related charges for a 2022 death in Shamokin.

According to court documents, after a one-day trial, Corey Quincy was found guilty of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault, abuse of a corpse, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of an instrument of crime.
