Crews suspend search of 10-year-old girl in Susquehanna River

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A desperate search was underway on Sunday for a missing girl who was swept away in the Susquehanna River. Crews were on the water all afternoon in the Williamsport area trying to find the 10-year-old.

The 10-year-old girl was in the Susquehanna River late Sunday morning while her mother and another were on the riverbank nearby. That's when their worst fears became reality when the girl disappeared, and the other two tried to save her.

MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) say three people were sent to nearby hospitals after a four-vehicle crash in Columbia County.

Officials say that crews were called to mile marker 245 of Interstate 80 Westbound in Mifflin Township for a reported four-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer.

In a release, troopers explained that the tractor-trailer was driving West on Interstate 80 in the right lane while a Toyota RAV4, a Mini Clubman, and a Subaru were stopped ahead of the tractor-trailer due to traffic congestion.

Man arrested after two separate burglary incidents

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— One man is locked up after allegedly breaking into two structures over the last month.

According to a Scranton Police Department release, 33-year-old Anderson Cortez, is being charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass, and other related charges.

49-year-old woman dead after crash

The release states that Cortez allegedly broke into a home on the 300 block of Beech Street on April 27 and an unoccupied structure on the 400 block of Koch Street on May 2.
