BLAKELY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Plans for three data centers proposed in Blakely Borough have been withdrawn by the developer. 28/22 News Reporter Colby Hughes talked to some of the outspoken voices against the data centers in Blakely.
"We were absolutely thrilled, almost, 'Really?' We were almost in disbelief, and absolutely thrilled," a clerk at Live With It Gift Shop, Lora Hobbs, said.
Hobbs has lived in her Blakely residence for 40 years, and she works at a local gift shop down the hill from her home.

JENKINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A developing story coming out of Luzerne County Wednesday afternoon: law enforcement is raiding a warehouse operation. The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office is leading that raid.
The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office confirms they are conducting the raid at the facility located on Centerpoint Boulevard in Jenkins Township, inside the CenterPoint Pittston Industrial Park.
The state Attorney General's Office is in charge of the investigation.

PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A secondhand shop is setting up for a limited time, ready to charm bargain hunters and those hoping to save a buck.
It’s game time at the Dome Sportsplex in Plains Township.
But not for players, it’s shoppers warming up for the Just Between Friends kids pop-up consignment event.
“Local families bring their items to sell, and then other local families come in to shop and buy the things that their kids need and want,” explained Heather Orlandini, sales coordinator for Just Between Friends Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

PLAINS TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are investigating after a counterfeit bill was found at Mohegan Pennsylvania.
Police say a 71-year-old man of Plains found a bill sitting on a machine with no one around. The man then went to get the bill exchanged because it had a rip on it.
Wanted suspect after home break-in leads to stolen car
Casino officials then noticed that the bill was fake because it read "for motion picture purposes" on it, PSP reported.
The bill was taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are looking for a suspect who they say broke into a home, stole a car, and fled from officers.
The Hazleton City Police Department is searching for a man identified as 33-year-old Terrence Belt.
Police say on March 25, officers were called to the 480 block of West Mine Street, where a homeowner found a Belt inside their home.
Belt was chased out of the house, where Belt then fled on foot towards CVS. While officers were investigating the home break-in, they were called for a stolen car in the CVS parking lot.

HAZLE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — People living along a proposed 12-mile PPL power line are raising new concerns. A town hall meeting brought together residents, lawmakers, and activists to discuss the transmission line cutting through several municipalities in Luzerne County.
Many property owners in the Hazleton area say they fear their land will lose value, their daily lives will be disrupted, and their voices will be ignored.

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News is now learning the identities of those involved in a shooting at an apartment building in Luzerne County.
Police say they were called to the Hilltop Apartments in Hazleton on Saturday, where they found two dead and one in critical condition because of gunshot wounds.
Local resource center addressing need for diapers
Officers say the woman found dead was identified as Vanessa Bigg-Carr, and the suspected shooter, Miguel Lara, was also found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
