Sabatelle's reopens after next door fire

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A popular Italian meat and specialty market is open again after being closed for nearly three months. A massive fire next door to the shop forced them to close its doors just days before Christmas.

"We went out to the front door, and we saw the flames and the smoke. We walked in to gather our belongings and then the police chief came in and said 'Get out, get out.' We had 30 seconds to get out of here," Sabatelle's Market co-owner Jane Sabatelle explained.

Family of 'House of Horrors' owner seeks justice for her murder

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The family of a Luzerne County woman who was murdered near Wilkes-Barre a year ago say they are seeking answers and justice for her.

69-year-old Debra Fox was the longtime owner of a house that police describe as a "House of Horrors." The body of another woman was found buried in the basement. The so-called "House of Horrors" is located at 142 Carlisle Street in South Wilkes-Barre.

Debra Fox owned the house for some 40 years. Debra's daughter, Danielle, says they just want to know who killed her and why.

Two arrested after multiple shots fired

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police arrested two men after they say their gunshot detector alerted them to multiple shots fired in Hazleton.

On March 7, around 2:40 p.m., officers said they received notification from the Flock/Raven system of multiple gunshots on 17th and Grant Streets.

While responding, police stated they saw a black BMW fleeing the area, and they tried to pull the car over. The driver tried to flee, leading to a chase with police, but they eventually stopped on 12th Street and Hanover Court.

Woman allegedly threatens worker, 'Do you want to taste my knife?', police say

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they arrested a woman after she made threats with a knife against a man working in an apartment building.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, on March 7 around 1:00 p.m., officers were called to South Main Street for a disorderly woman.

Man charged with shots fired leading to stand-off

Man charged with 54 counts of child pornography

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a man has been charged with 54 counts of child pornography after investigating a cyber tip.

According to police, James Charles Vilcko, 58, was in possession of child pornography from November 24, 2024, to the present.

Suspect wanted after armed robbery at store

Court documents say Vilcko was unable to post bail on March 7 and he awaits a preliminary hearing.

Streets packed for Wilkes-Barre 45th Saint Patrick's Parade

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Northeastern Pennsylvania has wrapped up not one but two big Irish celebrations this weekend. Following the Electric City's Saint Patrick's Parade on Saturday was the Diamond City's Saint Patrick's Parade on Sunday.

It was quite a sight to see Sunday afternoon.

The streets surrounding Public Square were packed with thousands of people celebrating Irish pride.

The city of Wilkes-Barre's 45th Saint Patrick's Parade did not disappoint.

The sound of bagpipes blared along South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
