WEST PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Anytime the second in command comes to NEPA, traffic and road closures are bound to cause tie-ups.

In preparation for Vice President J.D. Vance's visit in Luzerne County, borough workers and Pennsylvania State Police set up rolling roadblocks in West Pittston.

Several roads were closed for the Vice President's arrival, forcing locals to reroute or head in the opposite direction they needed.

VP Vance will be speaking inside Don’s Machine Shop around 1:00 p.m. There will be speakers before him, including local officials and Congressman Rob Bresnahan.

People started lining up in the early morning to hear Vance.

The Vice President will talk about the "Big Beautiful Bill," which has been the center of controversy.

Vance is expected to visit West Pittston on Wednesday to deliver remarks on President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News now knows more about the second sinkhole that opened up on Monday in Wilkes-Barre, causing evacuations and a street closure.

Monday morning brought rain and another big sinkhole to Horton Street in Wilkes-Barre. Crews were called to the scene for a possible gas leak, and nearby residents were evacuated for their safety.

In the evening, the people forced to leave were allowed to return.

A judge accepted a request to drop charges against William Smiley.
