WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Some local families are in the holiday spirit thanks to some strikes, spares, and Santa himself.

Magic 93 and Chacko's Family Bowling Center hosted their Breakfast and Bowling with Santa on Sunday.

Families enjoyed 93 minutes of bowling, a hearty breakfast, and some one-on-one time with the big guy himself.

DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Northeastern Pennsylvania businesses are cashing in on this busy shopping weekend.

The craft store, Back Mountain Makery, hosted its Second Annual Small Business Weekend.

Six local vendors set up shop inside, offering candles, jewelry, and holiday treats.

Shoppers also enjoyed hot cocoa and coffee from Cozy Cocoa.

The Makery features products from 85 local artists all year.

This event gave small businesses a chance to connect with the community.

Power outage impacts Wilkes-Barre Township businesses

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The electricity is back after some businesses near Wilkes-Barre were left in the dark.

Officials say the outage happened just after 10:00 a.m. along Highland Park Boulevard.

About 140 customers, including several businesses, lost power.

Shooting under investigation in Luzerne County

Crews worked into the afternoon, restoring electricity around 2:00 p.m.

PPL blames the outage on a tripped breaker or blown fuse.

Luzerne County auto business puts up annual Christmas tree

SYBERTSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— People across Northeastern Pennsylvania are getting into the Christmas spirit.

SJM Auto Sales and Repair put up its annual community Christmas tree in Luzerne County Friday afternoon.

This year's spruce stands at about fifty feet.

It'll be decorated with roughly three thousand lights, and topped with a star.

The company's owner says the tree is their way of giving back to the community.

It's also done in collaboration with their toys for tots drive, and their yearly holiday event.

17-year-old dead after shooting at Wawa in Monroe County

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Stroud Area Regional Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just after 8:00 p.m. Saturday in Stroudsburg.

According to the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, police received multiple calls for a report of a male shot at the Wawa on West Main Street.

Officials say when officer arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy shot in the neck area.

Authorities say they performed lifesaving operations on the victim until EMS arrived, but he later died at the hospital.

Shooting under investigation in Luzerne County

DENNSION TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An investigation is underway in Dennison Township after a Saturday evening shooting.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a man with a gunshot wound knocked on his neighbor's door just after 5:00 p.m. on Natures Lane.

White Haven Police Department responded to the scene while Pennsylvania State Police was requested by the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office to takeover the investigation.

One day after shoppers hit the big stores for Black Friday, today is all about supporting small.

Supporting the little guy is especially important for local communities amid inflation.

One man dead after Route 11 crash Friday night

UNION TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) have identified a man that died in a crash along Route 11 late Friday night.

Troopers identified the man as 56-year-old Michael Faruolo.

Officials say Faruolo was traveling southbound along PA-11 just before 10:30 p.m. when he left the west-side of the roadway in his 2011 Toyota Rav4.

Burnt Norton in Downtown Wilkes-Barre prepared a Thanksgiving breakfast for three downtown Wilkes-Barre senior living apartments.

Thanks to the community, hundreds of residents at B'nai Birth, Washington Square, and Allied Services were treated to a Thanksgiving breakfast which included a coffee breakfast sandwich and even hashbrowns.

I-476 northbound reopened after reported incident

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — As of 3:00 p.m. 28/22 News can report that all roadways have been reopened after a reported incident on Interstate 476.

According to the Luzerne County Communication Center, Interstate 476 northbound was shut down around 1:00 p.m.

PA511 stated that an incident had occurred on Interstate 476 South near the Wilkes-Barre Interchange and all lanes were closed.
