Man accused of stealing autographed photo worth nearly $800

WILKES-BARRE TWP. LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are searching for a man accused of stealing a Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle autographed photo worth nearly $800.

Wilkes-Barre Township Police stated they are attempting to identify a man they call "the NEPA Duck Dynasty 'Si Robertson'" after he stole a Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle autographed photo from a store in the Wyoming Valley Mall.

The photo is valued at $799.99.

Firehouse Concessions set up shop at the fire department as part of their traveling fundraiser.

The group works within a two-hour radius of Waverly, New York, supporting dozens of fire departments along the way.

SPCA of Luzerne County acquire new building for shelter

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The SPCA of Luzerne County announced it has acquired the former Dundee Gardens property to enhance its shelter facilities.

According to the SPCA of Luzerne County, the new facility, located at 2407 Sans Souci Parkway, Hanover, will expand and enhance the shelter facilities.

101-year-old Clara White descended from high above Hazleton Regional Airport Sunday afternoon, sharing this skydive with someone close to her, someone a fraction of her age.

"It was awesome, I love coming and doing it with Nan," Skydiver Charles Heddings said.

Fall-themed craft show takes over Dallas pavilion

DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A fall event in Luzerne County's Back Mountain is celebrating 40 years. Irem Shrine Temple hosted its Annual Craft Show on Sunday in Dallas.

More than 40 vendors filled the pavilion with things like handmade crafts and fresh food, while fall-themed fun for the kids took over the outside.

Playground closed, juveniles arrested for damage

DURYEA, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a park in Luzerne County is closed until further notice after it was vandalized.

Duryea Police announced on their Facebook page on Sunday that Healey Playground in Duryea would be closed until further notice. They say the closing is due to a group of juveniles damaging the property and throwing garbage around the park.

Upgrade work underway in Kirby Park pond area

Three juveniles were arrested in connection with the incident. Police say more details on the arrests will be released at a later time.
