The scam poses many red flags for a local police department.

Someone in Wyoming Borough recently received an envelope full of papers in the mail.

Wyoming Area Regional Police Department is now trying to prevent anyone from getting scammed.

Crews from Hollenback Township were called to East County Road in Wapwallopen for a reported fire.

Scouts heat things up in Avoca with chili cookoff

AVOCA, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Hot chili sounds good on a cold winter day, and that's exactly what some scouts served up on Sunday.

Avoca/Dupont Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack 316 took part in a Chili Cookoff and Bake Sale at Queen of Apostles Parish.

Prizes were handed out to the hottest and best chili.

Where attendees could pay $5 to taste and judge the chili entries, the food-themed fundraiser helped celebrate Scout Day: A day to recognize and honor scouts for their contributions.

The retired airline captain now flies a very similar jet to the one that crashed in Philly.

He has some thoughts about what went so horribly wrong.

Officials announce Scranton Code Blue shelter will open doors

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities say a Code Blue shelter in Scranton is opening its doors Saturday night amid freezing temperatures.

The City of Scranton previously announced on Saturday the Code Blue shelter at Weston Field, staffed and operated by the Keystone Mission, would not be opening due to staffing.

This comes after Scranton previously announced a Code Blue will be in effect for Friday, Saturday, and Monday.
