Public Square is filled with local artists, live entertainment and dozens of vendors at the 69th Annual Fine Arts Fiesta.

The event began this morning at 11:00 a.m. and has seen a steady crowd all day.
Many of the artists come back every year to display their works of art.

SHAVERTOWN, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Investigators say it was one of the most violent murders they have ever seen. Despite the passage of 14 years, the case is still active.
56-year-old Jonathan Balester was stabbed to death inside his Shavertown, Luzerne County home in May of 2011. The killer has never been found.
The I-Team's Andy Mehalshick takes a look at the cold case investigation and talks with Balester's sister, who wants answers as to why no one has been arrested.

Brown held a press conference inside City Hall Thursday afternoon announcing plans for a new hotel, banquet facility and convention center coming to Public Square.

SUGARLOAF TWP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Firefighters quickly put out a fire that broke out inside of a garage in Luzerne County Wednesday night.
Sugarloaf Township Fire Chief Duane Hildebrant told 28/22 News crews were called to the unit block of West Country Road in Sugarloaf Township shortly before 7:00 p.m. for a reported fire.

Chief Hildebrant said a car caught on fire inside a garage, and that the fire has been put out.
There are no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Wilkes-Barre City Police Department is celebrating new faces on the force. Mayor George Brown and Police Chief Joseph Coffay swore in three new police officers Wednesday afternoon at City Hall.
New officers Jonathan Mason, John Owens, and Paul Sromovski were joined by their families for the ceremony.
