Police seek gunman in Sugarloaf Township shooting

SUGARLOAF TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are looking for a gunman after a shooting sent one person to the hospital Tuesday night in Sugarloaf Township.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) say the Sugarloaf Township Police Department was called to the unit block of Merry L Drive for a reported shooting victim.

Troopers say the person was taken to a nearby hospital and their condition is unknown at this time.

Missing man found injured near senior living facility

WILKES-BARRE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials say a resident of a senior living facility was pinned by an HVAC system causing them to be hospitalized.

Detective Capparell at the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department stated the Wilkes-Barre Township Fire Department was called to the Highland Park Senior Living on Schechter Drive around 6:00 p.m. for a missing resident of the facility.

Honoring MLK Jr. in Kingston with 'Blankets and Broth' event

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A community event to honor the legacy of Doctor Martin Luther King Junior was held at the Friedman Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Kingston.

They called it "Blankets and Broth," where people donated blankets or soup.

The items will be donated to Ruth's Place, the Salvation Army Kirby Family House, as well as the Keystone Mission.

The JCC partnered with the O'Donnell Law Firm, the Wilkes-Barre NAACP, and the Wilkes-Barre Health Department.

Congressman Meuser attends presidential inauguration

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Among those in attendance at President Donald Trump's inauguration was Congressman Dan Meuser from Luzerne County.

He represents the ninth district which includes much of northeastern Pennsylvania and was re-elected to serve a fourth term in November.

Meuser tells 28/22 News that the inauguration was high energy.

In a video submitted to 28/22 News, Kevin Labenski spotted what he says were hundreds of turkeys walking through fields Sunday in Moyers Grove in Wapwallopen.

Conditions still dicey in Wilkes-Barre after winter storm

While many of us are staying indoors, others are not letting the storm stop them from hitting the roads.

28/22 News Reporter Gianna Galli has been out in the storm since Sunday afternoon.

It was much colder Sunday night than it was during the bulk of the storm.

While it wasn't snowing later Sunday evening in Wilkes-Barre, earlier, when it was coming down, crews were out working to try and keep up with conditions.
