Candidates for 9th Congressional District speak ahead of election

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — There are only 15 days to Election Day 2024 and candidates are ramping up their campaigns.

Pennsylvania is seen as a must-win for Vice President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald Trump.

A lot of attention also focuses on congressional races: The results of which could shift the balance of power in Congress.

Over $1,000 worth of items stolen from CVS

JERSEY SHORE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are searching for two people who they say stole over $1,000 worth of items from CVS.

Lycoming Regional Police Department officers are investigating a theft at CVS Pharmacy in Jersey Shore.

Four accused of several retail thefts across NEPA

Police say on September 26, around 5:52 p.m., a man and a woman entered CVS and stole over $1,103.00 worth of items. 

Officers believe the suspects were from out of the area and were involved in thefts at other CVS Pharmacy stores. 

JD Vance holds rally in Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — With just 20 days until election day, the campaign trail ran through Pennsylvania. Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Senator JD Vance held a rally in Williamsport.

The VP nominee gave a quick and short speech late Wednesday afternoon inside Liberty Arena.

More than 1,000 people attended the rally to show support for the Republican ticket.

"Look, I have got the easiest job in American politics. I just have to defend the record of Donald J. Trump," Vance explained.

JD Vance to hold rally in Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Republican Vice Presidential nominee and Senator JD Vance is expected to hold a rally in Williamsport on Wednesday afternoon.

According to former President Donald Trump's campaign website, Vance will be holding a rally at The Liberty Arena on Wednesday, October 16, at 3:00 p.m.

Attendees can register for up to two tickets per person and are available at first come first serve basis. Doors open at noon at The Liberty Arena, which is located at 315 Hepburn St, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Driver killed after crashing car over cliff

ARMSTRONG TWP. LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A driver has died after state police say he drove off a scenic overlook in Lycoming County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, 33-year-old Peter Zeigler from South Williamsport was driving along Route 15 in South Williamsport Wednesday night.

Two-vehicle head-on crash kills motorcycle rider

Police say Zeigler drove into a scenic overlook parking lot, struck an embankment and his car became airborne, flying over a cliff overlooking Williamsport.

18-year-old allegedly threatens shooting at Montoursville High School

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An 18-year-old boy has been arrested after police say he threatened a shooting at Montoursville High School.

The affidavit states on October 2 an officer was approached by a student claiming she received a call from her ex-boyfriend, 18-year-old Yaa-sir Jennings-Cornelius, saying he was going to shoot up the school.

According to the criminal complaint, on October 3, officers arrested Jennings-Cornelius at a home in Williamsport after he allegedly pointed a black handgun at a screen in a Snapchat video.

Search for next of kin after man’s death

LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials are searching for any relatives of a man who died in Lycoming County.

The Lycoming County Coroner's Office says they are searching for the family of 73-year-old James L. Neal who died and was residing at Williamsport North.

The coroner noted Neal previously lived at 450 Center Street in Williamsport.

Cattle truck crash kills 30-40 cows in Union County

Authorities stated Neal possibly has a cousin, Jerome Neal, in the area, but that is all officials could find about him.

Husband accused of staging wife's suicide

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A husband is being charged after police say he staged a scene and claimed that his wife attempted suicide.

According to the Williamsport Bureau of Police, on January 21 officers were called to the 2000 block of Trenton Avenue for a reported suicide attempt by hanging.

Once on the scene, police said the victim's husband Dane Christofor Kay, 31, told them, his wife had "just tried to hang herself" in the bathroom shower.
