Montoursville man dead after UTV crash

MILL CREEK TOWNSHIP, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— State police say a man died after crashing a utility task vehicle (UTV) in Mill Creek Township.

According to state troopers, first responders were called to the area of Burns Road near Firetower Road, Mill Creek Township, for a UTV crash around 10:30 p.m.

Alleged dog abuse investigation underway

JERSEY SHORE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are investigating an incident after a video depicted two people allegedly abusing a dog tied to a pole.

According to the Lycoming Regional Police Department, on February 16 officers were told of an animal abuse incident that happened at Jersey Shore Park.

Police say the video of the incident shows a woman with blond hair, a man, and a child walking their brindle Pitbull with a white face.

"We came into some water leaking, and shortly after a ceiling collapse," said owner Kim Evans, owner of theKIMMY.

The Kimmy boutique store is a centerpiece business in the downtown area of Olyphant and at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the owner noticed parts of the ceiling panels were falling on her merchandise.

Lycoming County polling station gets new location

MUNCY BOROUGH, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A polling station in Lycoming County is getting a new location after the Board of Elections voted for the move.

The Muncy Borough 2nd Precinct polling station has been moved effectively immediately after the Lycoming County Board of Elections voted to move the station to a new location.

The First United Methodist Church, 602 South Market Street, and the first election is scheduled for April 23, for the General Primary.

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man has been arrested after police say a standoff started when he held a pregnant woman hostage inside an apartment bathroom.

According to the Williamsport Bureau of Police, on Monday around 10:00 a.m., officers were called to the 500 block of Lycoming Street, for a disturbance at an apartment complex involving a gun.

Police say a 911 caller told officers the victim, a pregnant woman, had barricaded herself within a bathroom after 20-year-old Rynell Brooks-Brown, pointed a gun at her and made threats to harm the victim.

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A bar in the Green Ridge Section of Scranton is closed after a fire early Sunday.

Scranton firefighters were called to Waldo's Tavern on Green Ridge Street just before 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A four-hour-long standoff in Lycoming County had a neighborhood on alert.

Neighbors say the commotion started around 10:00 a.m. Monday. It happened at the Timberland Apartment Complex on Lycoming Street.

Special Emergency Reaction Teams (SERT) were on scene from Berwick and Williamsport along with the the Bloomsburg Police Department.

Just after 2:00 p.m., a woman came out of the house.

JERSEY SHORE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Police say they have arrested a man who was armed with a sword and a pocket knife after a stabbing in Lycoming County.

Around 1:00 a.m. Friday morning, officers said they were called to the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue, Jersey Shore, for a reported stabbing.

Police arrived on the scene and found a 30-year-old male with a "serious stab wound."

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It was the perfect weather to Shiver by the River Saturday morning runners hit the pavement for the Scranton running company's second set of races this year.

The race consists of three main races a 5k run, 10k run, and a mile walk.

Even with a fresh coat of snow, runners came out in full force to participate from teenagers to experienced runners, each one pushing to cross the finish line.
