Parents speak out after filing lawsuit against school district

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)—On Tuesday, we reported a lawsuit that was filed against a school district in Lycoming County.

Thursday, the parents spoke in an exclusive interview with 28/22 News Reporter Connor Coar about how the student is dealing with the lawsuit that he is now apart of.

It came as a shock to Page and Nathaniel Woods, their oldest son coming home from school telling them that he had been hurt at school.

Lawsuit filed against Williamsport School District

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Lycoming County school is now facing a federal lawsuit after a student was strapped to a backboard in class. The district confirms the teacher has resigned.

A lawsuit was filed against Williamsport Area School District this past Friday. The suit states the teacher strapped a rising senior to a backboard.

According to the suit, Richard Caschera was hired by the school district in May to teach the district's homeland security program.

Little League World Series brings in nearly $40 million

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — According to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), the Little League Baseball World Series brought in an estimated 70,000 people to Williamsport and generated almost $40 million for PA's economy.

The two weeks of baseball fun concluded Sunday, which brought teams from across the globe to Williamsport. The Chinese Taipei Little League team won over the Mountain region's Summerlin South Little League out of Nevada 7-0 in the final on Sunday.

Governor Shapiro congratulates LLWS champions

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The eyes of the world were on central Pennsylvania on Sunday. A big crowd is on hand for championship Sunday at the Little League World Series, including Governor Josh Shapiro.

Before the big game between Nevada and Taipei China, Shapiro congratulated the 2025 Little League Softball World Series champions.

The West Suburban Little League from Johnstown defeated a team from Indiana earlier this month to become the first Pennsylvania team to win the title since 1978.
