Police say stolen car intentionally set on fire

LEWIS TOWNSHIP, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police have released details on a stolen vehicle they say was intentionally set on fire.

According to police, the Trout Run Fire Department responded to a fire in the area of Four Mile Road and US Highway 15 in Lewis Township around 11:45 p.m. on May 27.

The release states that when firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered a Maserati on fire with no driver or anyone else nearby.

Police searching for suspects in attempted break in at Lycoming County gun shop

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they are looking for two people who they say tried to break into the National Range and Armory in Williamsport.

Surveillance video shows the two attempting to throw what looks like a rock at a window of the building just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

After a few unsuccessful attempts at breaking the window, the pair can be seen leaving the scene.

Anyone with information on the identity of the two is asked to contact the police.

Identity and details of missing kayaker released

MONTOURSVILLE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Lycoming County Coroner has identified the body of the missing kayaker from Loyalsock Creek.

The coroner has identified 26-year-old Dakota MacGill as the kayaker whose body was recovered by the Harrisburg River Rescue team from the Loyalsock Creek.

According to the coroner, MacGill, along with another kayak with two people in it, capsized in the rapids south of the launch site of the Loyalsock Creek on Saturday.

MONTOURSVILLE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The search has ended for a missing kayaker on Loyalsock Creek.

The Montoursville Fire Department announced Monday evening crews returned to Mill Street to continue their recovery efforts for the missing kayaker.

Police release details on Williamsport death investigation

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities in Lycoming County launched a death investigation Monday morning after a man was found dead in Williamsport.

The Williamsport Police Department on Monday said shortly after 10:45 a.m., they were called to the 1200 block of West 4th Street for a report of a deceased person.

Officers say they found a man dead inside an apartment and were later told the landlord found him after family members asked them to check on him.

Lackawanna County community reels after child killed in ATV crash

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Lackawanna County community is coping with tragedy on Saturday. They are mourning the death of a Spring Brook Township boy killed in an ATV crash.

Lackawanna County Coroner Timothy Rowland stated that a 14-year-old boy was killed in a fatal ATV accident shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Friday

The coroner stated that the juvenile was operating the ATV-type vehicle when he collided with terrain and was ejected from the vehicle.

While it is still unclear exactly how the crash occurred, the community is devastated.
