Husband accused of shooting wife inside home

SOUTH ABINGTON TWP., LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A husband is being charged after police say he shot his wife inside their home in South Abington Township.

Investigators stated that on April 1, around 9:00 p.m., officers were called to Northern Spy Road for a report of a shooting. The caller, a 12-year-old girl, stated her father shot her mother inside the home, police reported.

(WBRE/WYOU) — As many federal campgrounds close due to staffing shortages, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has launched its "Still Open. Still Awesome." campaign.

The DCNR is expecting a nearly 30 percent increase in campsite reservations this March compared to the same time last year.

The new tourism campaign is aimed at encouraging Pennsylvania residents and visitors to choose state parks and forests for their next outdoor adventure.
