Kirby Park Centennial Celebration kicks off

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A big milestone was celebrated this Saturday afternoon. A local park celebrated its 100th anniversary with food, rides, and even a hot air balloon.

Saturday marked 100 years of Kirby Park, so what better way to celebrate than with a free community event?

Besides parkgoers and Wilkes-Barre officials, members of the Kirby family were on hand.

They were happy to see the park made possible thanks to their great-grandfather, Fred Morgan Kirby

Roofer dies after falling from ladder in Clinton County

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, CLINTON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— One man is dead after falling from a ladder while trying to make roof repairs on Friday morning.

According to a Pennsylvania State Police Release, police were called to the Central Mountain High School for a reported fall victim.

The release states that 27-year-old Kyler Keller of Lewistown was climbing a ladder with a 5-gallon bucket of sealant while his co-worker was holding the bottom of the ladder.

Second alarm fire chars home in Jenkins Township

JENKINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Jenkins Township home caught fire just after midnight on Saturday morning.

According to the Luzerne County 911 Center, crews were called to the 50 block of Main Street around 12:30 a.m. for a fire department incident.

Prior to arriving on-scene, second-alarm units were requested because of the extent the fire, Jenkins Township Fire Department stated.

It is unknown at this time if there were any injuries.

The fire marshall was on-scene to assess the cause and damages of the structure according to officials
