DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — With the big game on Sunday that means some big food orders.
Restaurants and bars across the area are working overtime to make sure everyone has their wings, nachos, and Super Bowl spreads for their parties.
Happy Valley Bar in Dickson City opened nine years ago and is serving food specials for hungry fans at Super Bowl parties.
Spoon & Moon Chili Cookoff in Lackawanna County
Their specials include jumbo orders of buffalo wings, pretzel bites, and pizzas ready for takeout.
DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Saturday's weather wasn't too chilly but that didn't stop people from coming out for a chili cookoff for a cause.
28/22 News spent the afternoon at Moon Tavern in Dickson City.
The business was the site of a chili cook-off to raise money to help fight leukemia.
The cooking started at 3:00 p.m. and continued until 7:00 p.m. Saturday night.
About a dozen cooks added the spice to the competition creating chili for sampling.
ASHLAND, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — One woman is dead after being struck by a car in Ashland.
According to state police, a 71-year old woman was struck while crossing the 1600 block of Centre Street at around 6:15 p.m.
Fatal head on collision in Schuylkill County
Investigators say that the woman did not use the crosswalk or yield to traffic.
The woman died as a result of her injuries at the scene.
TAYLOR, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — In Lackawanna County, a pre-championship football game event was held earlier Saturday, but it wasn't the kind of celebration you might expect by the name.
This one was all about trains. The Taylor Hose and Engine Company number one has held this train show for the last fifteen years.
It began as a way for local train collectors to come together to buy and sell model trains and railroad memorabilia.
