Fatal crash brings Bradford County community together

WYALUSING TOWNSHIP, BRADFORD COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A small community is slowly coming together after an unimaginable tragedy. One week after a crash involving a Towanda Area School District vehicle that killed a nine-year-old boy and his driver, and seriously injured two other children, the community is stepping up to show love, support, and remembrance.

At a special baseball game fundraiser on Wednesday, neighbors gathered not only to raise money but to honor young lives cut short.

String of dirt bikes gone missing in one community

PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Luzerne County couple says the two bikes are worth tens of thousands of dollars and were taken from their garage earlier this week in the middle of the night.

One of the bikes is brand new, and together they are worth nearly $30,000.

28/22 News spoke with the couple, who say it happened in the middle of the night, and they provided us with a video that captures the bikes being taken away.

Lackawanna County nursing home closing after Medicare cuts ties

BLAKELY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local nursing home is set to close its doors after it failed to meet Medicare's health and safety guidelines. Now, residents and their families are forced to find a new place to stay.

Aventura at Terrace View, formerly known as Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center, announced last week that they would be closing its doors.

The notice gave residents and their families just 30 days to find a new facility.
