September is National Honey Month

SLOCUM TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — September is National Honey Month, an annual event that promotes the beekeeping industry across the country.

There’s a buzz in Slocum Township, and not just during September, which is National Honey Month. Harold Keiner started his apiary 13 years ago, a labor of love that grew over the years.

“Four or five years ago, I had as many as sixty colonies back there to work,” explained Keiner, owner of Keiner's Apiary.

PSP Fire Marshal Unit searching for arsonist

AUBURN TOWNSHIP, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The PSP Fire Marshal Unit is searching for an arsonist who destroyed an abandoned house.

The PSP Fire Marshal Unit and Montrose Fire Department responded to a fire scene on Friday, August 15, around 8:45 a.m.

According to authorities, the structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire due to the owner's passing several years ago.

Jerry Seinfeld coming back to the F.M. Kirby Center

Seinfeld will be performing his newest stand-up routine for two shows, at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on January 30, 2026.

Search for next of kin after man's death

(WBRE/WYOU) — Investigators are searching for any relatives of a Schuylkill County man who died at a hospital in Lehigh County.

According to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, 62-year-old John B. Malehorn from Frackville died at Lehigh Valley Hospital from injuries sustained during a fall.

Over $2,000 used on stolen Home Depot credit card

TEXAS TWP., WAYNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are searching for a suspect who allegedly bought over $2,000 of items with a stolen Home Depot credit card.

Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a man pictured below who is accused of a series of thefts at a Home Depot in Wayne County.

Police say the thefts happened between August 6-8 when the suspect purchased $2,445.25 worth of items with a stolen Home Depot credit card.

(WBRE/WYOU) — State police report over 500 DUI arrests were made during Labor Day weekend enforcement.

Pennsylvania State Police released the results of its annual Labor Day weekend crash and enforcement totals.

From August 29 to September 1, PSP investigated 747 crashes that resulted in 129 injuries and six deaths. Impaired driving was a factor in 64 of those crashes, two of which were fatal. 

Troopers arrested 535 people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and issued the following 24,182 citations:
