Third Eye Blind coming to Bloomsburg Fair Grandstand

BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Third Eye Blind with special guest New Medicine are coming to the 2025 Bloomsburg Fair on September 25.

Tickets will go on sale May 9 at 9:00 a.m. and will range from $40 - $65 for the grandstand, $75 for the track, and $90 for limited pit tickets.

70th Annual Special Needs Fishing Derby

JIM THORPE, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Casting out a line to reel in community support, all part of a decades-old annual fishing event in Carbon County.

Stepping off the bus, ready to go, “Fishing!” exclaims Joshua Jones, Lehighton Area High School.

“Pull it back and wham! It goes into the water, and the fish come in and then bam! You are there with a fish!” said Ryan Kelly, a student at Jim Thorpe Area High School.

Students deliberately short-circuiting school laptops as part of social media trend

DENVER (KDVR) — School district officials are warning students against a social media trend directing them to short-circuit their school-issued laptops after multiple fires were reported in recent weeks.

Officials say it's all part of a social media trend where videos show students how to short-circuit their laptop or puncture the lithium batteries. The short-circuit or puncture causes the battery's temperature to rise uncontrollably, which can lead to a fire or explosion. It also releases toxic fumes.

Fire under investigation in Dunmore

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A fire in Dunmore early Thursday has three people in the hospital, including one firefighter.

The Dunmore Fire Department states the call came in around 4:00 a.m. for a house fire on Meade Street.

Hazleton homicide suspect Terence Ray in custody

Two people were inside the house and were able to get out before firefighters arrived. Dunmore Fire Department says the two are in the hospital for evaluations.
