DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials tell 28/22 News a sinkhole opened up in the backyard of a Dunmore home Sunday afternoon.
Dunmore Police Sergeant Stephon Burgette told 28/22 News the sinkhole was reported by the residents near the intersection of College Avenue and Jefferson Avenue at about 5:15 p.m. after they returned home and found the hole.

Officials say the sinkhole was about 40 feet deep, and crews worked to fill it Sunday night.

BLAKELY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Cars were not all that were on the streets in part of a Lackawanna County community on Sunday. Runners took off from the Blakely Borough complex and onto the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail for the Inaugural Build-N-Athlete Race.
Participants had the choice of a 5K or 10K course, while children could do a Fun Run.
The run benefits Build-N-Athlete, a non-profit that works toward removing financial barriers that may prevent children from participating in sports.

The event was held on Sunday at the facility near Clarks Summit to mark the completion of renovations to the lobby.
