Monroe County coroner called after pedestrian struck

TUNKHANNOCK TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities were on the scene after a pedestrian was reportedly struck by a vehicle Monday evening.

Officials say the Pocono Mountain Regional Police, the Tunkhannock Township Fire Department, and the West End Fire Department were called to the intersection of State Route 115 and Allegheny Drive shortly before 5:00 p.m.

According to officials, the Monroe County coroner was called to the scene.

LCCC held Annual Veterans Day Program to honor those who served

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Monday is Veterans Day and people gathered for celebrations to honor those who have served.

Luzerne County Community College LCCC in Nanticoke held its Annual Veterans Day Program.

Dozens attended the event in the college's Patrick J. Solano Veterans Center.

It's been opened since 2017.

Project 113’s steam locomotive brings Santa to Minersville in December

MINERSVILLE — Steam-powered Santa trains will operate from Minersville on two days this year: Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15. Three trips each day will travel south from the Minersville station, a 14-mile, 70-minute round-trip, with departures at 10:30 a.m. and 1 and 3:30 p.m. Santa rides every train and talks with every child, and each child will receive a complimentary gift from Santa.
