WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are searching for a man reported missing in Luzerne County.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, 23-year-old Max Liebetrau has been reported missing.

Search for missing girl out of Luzerne County

Police say Liebetrau was last seen wearing blue jeans, a grey sweatshirt, a black LL Bean coat, and black/white sneakers. Liebeatru is described as a man 6'4'' in height, weighing 180 with blonde hair and blue eyes.

PLAINS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— After Sunday night’s big game, the last thing on the minds of many was to get up early and head to the gym, but a popular social media trend has gym-goers doing just that and taking the plunge into an ice bath.

Remembering Phylicia Thomas 20 years later

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 20 years ago on February 11 was the last time anyone saw or heard from Phylicia Thomas.

Her family hosted a vigil in her honor and they have continued hope someone watching will have information about her disappearance

The vigil in Nanticoke was a small gathering at a memorial garden for the Phylicia. Friends and family have gathered every year with the same hope of finding answers.

Phylicia Thomas went missing on February 11th, 2004 never returning home from work.

Oncologist tells 28/22 about stomach cancer awareness

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — On Monday, country music star Toby Keith passed away at the age of 62, after a two-year battle with stomach cancer.

The signs of stomach cancer can often be easy to miss. Now, medical experts are raising awareness.

"When the abnormal growth happens in the stomach, we call it stomach cancer," said Dr. Sorab Gupta a medical oncologist at Geisinger.

Dr. Gupta, a medical oncologist at Geisinger says there are a few key symptoms stomach cancer typically presents.

Teen wanted in Wilkes-Barre 'smash and grab' burglaries

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A male suspect is wanted after multiple businesses in Wilkes-Barre were victims of 'smash and grab' burglaries.

Previously 28/22 News reported there were multiple businesses targets of 'smash and grab' burglaries.

Police issued an active investigation after windows were smashed to make entry into many businesses to steal cash as well as other items.

Police said through further investigation they were able to connect the burglaries to a 17-year-old male.

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A heavy police presence was reported in Luzerne County after an attempted robbery.

According to the Luzerne County Communication Center officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Carey Avenue near the Burger King in Hanover Township around 6:30 p.m.

PSP: Man arrested with 500 grams of meth in Susquehanna County

Police say one bullet casing was found on the ground outside the Burger King.

Officials say the Hanover Township Police Department and Ashley Borough police are on the scene.

Missing girl controversy leads to officer removed

WHITE HAVEN, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Controversy and confusion in Luzerne County Friday night a police officer has been let go, according to the chief of police, because of mishandled paperwork.

The removal led to a closed-door meeting in White Haven and what appeared to be tensions outside the building as well.

A missing persons report that was filed to the White Haven Police Department a day ago has now stirred controversy in the department, leading to the removal of an officer.

Lancaster Co. man captured in Pittston Twp. faces murder charges

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — A Lancaster County man captured in Pittston Township has been charged with the murder of his wife.

According to the Northern Lancaster Regional Police Department (NLCRPD) Matthew Harrison, 48, of Manheim, Lancaster County was taken into custody on Thursday, February 8, in Pittston Township Luzerne County after a brief stand-off at the Knights Inn on Route 315.

NLCRPD says Harrison (pictured below) is being charged with the murder of his wife, Jami Harrison, who was found dead in the 200 block of Mount Hope Road in Lancaster County.

Two walk-in crisis centers coming to Luzerne County
