Residents report citrus odor from kratom plant

WEST WYOMING, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Something stinks in a part of Luzerne County, and residents say their quality of life is being destroyed by that odor. The smell is coming from a business which admits it is the source of the problem.

The company at the center of the concerns and controversy is KB Crash Creations in West Wyoming.

Company officials say they have taken steps to mitigate the odor problems and insist they want to be a good neighbor, but many residents say they just want the odor to go away once and for all.

Police report over 500 DUIs for Memorial Day weekend

(WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania State Police released the details of their Memorial Day weekend enforcement, including 756 crashes and 519 DUIs.

During the four-day enforcement period, May 23 to 26, state police investigated 756 crashes that led to 140 injuries and five deaths.

Police reported 519 DUI arrests, with 57 DUI-related crashes, and two DUI-related fatal crashes.

There were also 7,033 speeding citations given out, as well as 166 child seat citations.

5 killed in PA crashes over Memorial Day weekend, slight decrease from 2024

(WKBN) -- Pennsylvania State Police saw a decrease in the total number of crashes during this Memorial Day weekend.

According to a news release, PSP reported 756 total crashes that resulted in 140 injuries and five fatalities. Driving under the influence was a factor in 57 crashes, two of which were fatal.

In 2024, there were a total of 849 crashes, injuring 164 and killing six.

PSP Troopers also arrested 519 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and issued 27,139 citations, including:
